How to cast with three coins
Casting by hand takes a few minutes. Here is all you need, from the first throw to entering your cast for a reading.
What you need
- Three coins of the same kind.
- One question, kept in mind while you throw.
- Paper and a pen, to note each line as you go.
Which side is which
Heads is yang; tails (the side showing the coin's value) is yin.
The value may be in figures or in words, such as “ONE CENT”. The year is not the value.
If both sides of your coins show the value, or neither does, choose which side counts as heads before you start and keep to it. The odds are the same either way.
Six throws, from the bottom up
Shake the three coins in your cupped hands and let them fall. Each throw gives one line. The first throw is the bottom line, and each new line goes above the last, until you have six.
Counting each throw
Count each yang face as 3 and each yin face as 2, then add up the three coins.
An example
Six throws, from the first to the last, build this hexagram. The second and fifth lines are changing.
- Throw 18
- Throw 29
- Throw 37
- Throw 47
- Throw 56
- Throw 68
Entering your cast
In the chat, choose I Ching, then Use my own coins (Professional and Premium). Tap each coin to match your throw, line by line from the bottom up, then press Read my cast.
Ask a matter only once
Ask a matter only once. Your first cast gives the clearest answer.
Cast once for each question. When the situation changes, or a new question comes up, cast again then.
